Our First Three Days In Villaviciosa
We slept the best that we could the first night after the exhausting journey. There is only one other apartment on our floor and it is apparently inhabited by Satan's child. At least one of them was screaming and throwing tantrums until after 2:00 a.m.
The next morning we went over to the town hall to register. The information that I had received was incorrect though, as we were told that we would need to travel to Gijon and register at the National Police office. Once we got there, however, it was too late. We were told to come back on Tuesday morning. When I asked about the requirement to register within 72 hours, the officer told me "it is no problem".
While in Gijon, we found a pet supply store and rounded up the all-important litter box for the cats and some treats for all of our herd. Just down the road from the pet store, we saw this future destination.
Also in Gijon, we stopped by the Spanish version of Home Depot looking for a fan, but they don't carry them this time of year. We ended Thursday by checking out a hamburger/pizza joint. The burger was decent, the pizza not so much.
Saturday morning or first stop was to the phone store for some data plans. We don't have internet at the apartment but I can tether my laptop to my phone so it's not a big deal. We went to a restaurant on the next block to our apartment for lunch and hung out with the pets most of the day. Later that night we went to the neighborhood gelato shop where I had the most incredible Mango dessert that I've ever had.
On Sunday, my goal was to take Patty and Nellie to the beach. It was a leisurely 6 mile drive with stunning views along the way. Dogs aren't allowed on the beach so we had to stick to the very nice boardwalk at the park. We hiked just enough for all of us to say that we got some exercise. Once again, I had mango gelato for dessert. :-)
